What anonymous text chat means on TalkRoom

You choose a conversation room and TalkRoom looks for another available adult in that room. During the chat, each person is shown as You or Stranger. Your match does not receive your name, email address, phone number, precise location, or IP address from TalkRoom.

Anonymous does not mean that the service keeps no technical records. TalkRoom uses an internal device identifier, processes an approximate country, and temporarily stores messages so the conversation can be reviewed if a participant reports it. How to start a random text conversation

• Choose Text Chat and select a room such as Random, Friendship, English, Study, Music, or Gaming.
• Select the gender option that applies to you, confirm that you are at least 18, and agree to the current policies.
• Select Start Text Chat. When another participant is available, TalkRoom opens a private one-to-one conversation.
• Leave, skip, block, or report whenever you need to. You never owe a stranger continued conversation.

Why choose text-only chat

Text chat can be a lower-pressure way to meet someone new. It does not require camera or microphone access, and it gives both people time to think before responding. Topic rooms can also provide an easy first subject when a completely random introduction feels awkward.

TalkRoom is designed for short, live conversations rather than follower counts, public posts, or permanent profiles. It is not a dating service, identity-verification service, or substitute for professional or emergency support.

Privacy and moderation

Unreported messages are deleted shortly after a chat ends. When a participant submits a report, the related transcript may be retained for human review for no longer than 30 days. Reported content can lead to a temporary or permanent device suspension, and suspended users can submit an appeal.

Moderation reduces risk but cannot prevent every harmful message or verify what another person says. Keep identifying information private, avoid suspicious links and payment requests, and leave immediately if a conversation feels unsafe.
